Volunteer FAQ

Christian volunteer opportunities and student service hours, answered

How students find faith-based volunteer opportunities, log verified service hours, and stay safe while serving through Hands of Jesus.

How do I find Christian volunteer opportunities near me?
Search by keyword or use the filter panel to narrow Christian volunteer opportunities by city, cause, age, in-person or remote, faith-based partner, and required service hours. Every listing shows the sponsoring organization, location, date, and estimated hours so you can pick the right fit.
Do these opportunities count for student volunteer hours?
Yes. Each listing shows estimated service hours, and once an organization verifies attendance, hours are logged to your service history. That gives students a shareable record of volunteer hours for National Honor Society, community-service graduation requirements, scholarships, and college applications.
What kinds of service opportunities are listed?
Food insecurity, homeless outreach, elder care, kids ministry, community cleanup, church service, mentorship, and refugee support — hosted by churches, ministries, nonprofits, schools, and student-led chapters. You can also filter for one-time projects or ongoing weekly service.
Are these opportunities safe for high school and middle school students?
Student-only events are kept separate from public events, include adult supervision and chapter leaders, and clearly list age requirements. Parents and guardians can review each opportunity page before a student signs up, and minors get parent-permission reminders during registration.
How do I sign up for a volunteer opportunity?
Open any opportunity and click Register to Volunteer. Sign-up takes under a minute — no account required for one-off events. Creating a free account lets students track upcoming signups, save favorites, and see completed service hours in one place.
Can I start my own school service club and post opportunities?
Yes. Visit Start a Chapter to launch a high school volunteer club at your school or church, or use Submit an Opportunity to list a service project your team is organizing. Approved chapters can publish their own opportunities to the directory.
