Volunteer & Opportunity Disclaimer

Last updated: July 2026

Please read this before signing up for or submitting a volunteer opportunity through Hands of Jesus.

Admin reminder: These policies are starter drafts written in plain language. Before a large public launch, have them reviewed by a qualified adult advisor or attorney to ensure they fit your jurisdiction, partners, and insurance requirements.

Hands of Jesus is a platform, not the event host

Hands of Jesus connects volunteers with opportunities offered by host organizations (nonprofits, churches, schools, and community groups). Except where clearly stated, we are not the on-site organizer of an event and we do not independently supervise every opportunity listed on the site.

Host organizations are responsible on-site

The host organization for each opportunity is responsible for supervision, adult screening, safety, training, waivers, insurance, and compliance with local, school, church, and nonprofit policies for their event.

Publication is not a guarantee

Publishing an opportunity does not mean Hands of Jesus has audited the host organization or that the event is guaranteed to be safe or suitable for every volunteer. We review submissions for basic fit and remove listings we discover to be inappropriate, misleading, unsafe, discriminatory, or fraudulent — but we can only act on what we see.

Minors and permissions

Minors may need parent or guardian permission to participate. Volunteers and chapter leaders should follow the specific consent, waiver, and chaperone rules of their school, church, and host organization. See our Youth Safety Policy.

Follow local rules

Users must comply with the policies of their school, church, nonprofit, and local community, and with applicable laws. If those rules conflict with something in a listing, follow the local rule and let us know.

Assumption of responsibility

By signing up for a volunteer opportunity, you (and, for minors, your parent or guardian) acknowledge that participation involves ordinary risks, that Hands of Jesus is not the on-site organizer, and that you agree to follow the host's instructions and safety rules.

No professional advice

Content on the site — including resources for starting a chapter — is educational and does not constitute legal, medical, financial, or other professional advice.

Reporting a problem

If you experience or witness something unsafe, misleading, or otherwise concerning, email hello@handsofjesus.org. For emergencies, contact local authorities first.
