Community Guidelines

Last updated: July 2026

Hands of Jesus is a Christ-centered community of volunteers, chapters, and organizations. These guidelines describe how we treat each other and the neighbors we serve.

Admin reminder: These policies are starter drafts written in plain language. Before a large public launch, have them reviewed by a qualified adult advisor or attorney to ensure they fit your jurisdiction, partners, and insurance requirements.

Serve with love and honesty

  • Treat every person — volunteers, staff, and the people we serve — with dignity and respect.
  • Represent yourself, your chapter, and your organization honestly.
  • Follow the direction of on-site host staff and adult supervisors.

What is not allowed

The following content or behavior may be removed or reported, and may result in loss of platform access:

  • Harassment, bullying, threats, or hateful behavior toward any person or group.
  • Discrimination based on race, ethnicity, national origin, disability, or other protected characteristics.
  • Inappropriate contact with minors, or private one-on-one meetings with minors arranged through the platform.
  • Misleading, fraudulent, or unsafe volunteer listings.
  • Fake chapters, impersonation of schools, churches, or organizations.
  • Solicitations that are not directly connected to a real service opportunity.
  • Sharing private signup information publicly.
  • Illegal activity of any kind.

Follow the rules of the places we serve

When volunteering, you agree to follow the policies of your school, church, host organization, and local community. If a policy conflicts with a Hands of Jesus listing, follow the local policy and let us know so we can review the listing.

Faith and respect

Hands of Jesus is openly Christian. Volunteers and hosts do not have to share our faith to participate, and we ask everyone to treat one another with the same love and respect regardless of background or belief.

Reporting

If a listing, chapter, or user violates these guidelines, email hello@handsofjesus.org. We may edit, hide, or remove content, and may suspend accounts, when guidelines are violated. See our Terms of Use for more.

This page is written in plain language to help volunteers, families, and partners understand how Hands of Jesus works. It does not constitute individualized legal advice. Questions? Email hello@handsofjesus.org.
