About

Started by students. Built for students. Rooted in Jesus.

The Hands of Jesus is a student-led Christian volunteer movement helping young people turn faith into action through real, local service — and equipping others to do the same.

Mission

To help Christian students discover meaningful ways to serve, start chapters at their schools and churches, and grow in compassion by loving their neighbors the way Jesus did.

Vision

A world where service is a lifestyle, not a Saturday every couple months. Our goal is to ultimately connect students with the heart to serve in every way they can. It is through action that God's light is shown to the world.

Faith that moves. Service that lasts. Communities that are loved.

Founder story

Founders of Hands of Jesus

Our story

During the summer before our junior year, we went on a mission trip to Madagascar. There, we were a part of street cleaning initiatives, critical supply drop offs, and a Vacation Bible School. After coming back, we recognized that many of those needs were right next door. That was the seed for Hands of Jesus. We saw how many organizations in our area were in need of volunteers, and at the same time we saw service-hearted friends without an outlet to serve. To bridge that gap, we created Hands of Jesus. Now, we want to start student-led chapters of our club in any school that needs us to connect students with the service they live for. With our website we hope to provide anyone, not just students, with the resources to find service opportunities that need and fit them.

Our values

The heart behind our hands.

These five values shape how we serve, lead, and welcome others. They are more than words on a page, they are the commitments we try to live out one opportunity at a time.

Compassion

We do everything we can to see people the way Jesus sees them. With understanding, kindness, and a deep love for who they are.

Service

We were made to love our neighbors, not just admire the idea. Service is how we put belief into motion — quietly, practically, and faithfully.

Faith in Action

Faith is not only what we say and believe, it is the way we exemplify God's light through what we do day in and day out.

Community

We were never meant to serve alone. Every chapter, every project, and every friendship exists to remind us that the body of Christ is built together.

Leadership

We believe students can lead now, not someday. We raise up young leaders who serve with humility, listen first, and empower others to step forward in serving the Lord.

Faith-based service values

We serve because Jesus served.

Jesus didn't stand and watch. He washed feet, He fed crowds, He sat at tables he wasn't supposed to. The life he modeled is one we can actually live out with our hands, our Saturdays, and our friends.

Let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth.
1 John 3:18

Incarnational presence

We show up in person, build relationships, and honor the dignity of everyone we serve.

Humble partnership

We listen before we lead, and we uplift local churches and nonprofits rather than replace them.

Sustainable commitment

One-time events matter, but long-term faithfulness matters more. It's about showing up day-to-day that truly changes lives. We are an advocate for a lifestyle of service!

Welcoming across traditions

Protestant, Catholic, Orthodox, non-denominational, students from all Christian backgrounds serve together here. We are welcoming to anyone with the passion to serve!

Faith statement

What we believe.

We are a Christ-centered movement. He is at the heart of everything we do. By Him, for Him, with Him.

We affirm the Scriptures as the inspired and trustworthy word of God, sufficient to guide a life lived in love of God and others.

We welcome Christians from every tradition- Protestant, Catholic, Orthodox, non-denominational- who share this confession and want to put it into practice with their hands.

We believe service is worship. It is through action that we reflect the love and light that Jesus Christ brings to every life He touches.
