About
Started by students. Built for students. Rooted in Jesus.
The Hands of Jesus is a student-led Christian volunteer movement helping young people turn faith into action through real, local service — and equipping others to do the same.
Mission
To help Christian students discover meaningful ways to serve, start chapters at their schools and churches, and grow in compassion by loving their neighbors the way Jesus did.
Vision
A generation of students whose faith is not confined to a Sunday service, but expressed in real action throughout the week. We imagine a chapter in every school and church that wants one — not as a big organization, but as a big family of small teams showing up faithfully in their own towns.
Faith that moves. Service that lasts. Communities that are loved.
Founder story
Hands of Jesus began as a student-led volunteer club at Valor Christian High School. Starting with only two members, it was created to make meaningful Christian service easier for students to find and join. The founding chapter grew to nearly 100 members and organized recurring service projects, donation drives, and community partnerships.
Our values
The heart behind our hands.
These five values shape how we serve, lead, and welcome others. They are not just words on a page — they are the commitments we try to live out one opportunity at a time.
Compassion
We see people the way Jesus sees them — with patience, kindness, and a willingness to stop and care. Compassion is the first move; everything else follows.
Service
We were made to love our neighbors, not just admire the idea. Service is how we put belief into motion — quietly, practically, and faithfully.
Faith in Action
Faith is not only what we say and believe, it is the way we exemplify God's light through what we do day in and day out.
Community
We were never meant to serve alone. Every chapter, every project, and every friendship exists to remind us that the body of Christ is built together. We are more than a series of separate chapters and opportunities, we are a network of
Leadership
We believe students can lead now, not someday. We raise up young leaders who serve with humility, listen first, and empower others to step forward.
What makes us different
Built by students, for students — with the long view in mind.
Student-led, not student-only
Students drive the work, but pastors, teachers, and nonprofit leaders walk alongside them. We believe young leaders grow best when they're trusted, mentored, and given real responsibility.
Local first, scalable second
Every chapter is rooted in its own neighborhood. We don't import a one-size-fits-all program — we help each team learn its community and respond to real needs already there.
Faith in action, not just words
We care about theology, but we care just as much about showing up. Service is how faith becomes visible — to the student serving, the community being served, and the God we follow.
Faith-based service values
We serve because Jesus served.
Jesus didn't stand at a comfortable distance. He washed feet. He fed crowds. He sat at tables he wasn't supposed to. The life he modeled is one we can actually live — with our hands, our Saturdays, and our friends.
“Let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth.”
Incarnational presence
We show up in person, build relationships, and honor the dignity of everyone we serve.
Humble partnership
We listen before we lead, and we partner with local churches and nonprofits rather than replacing them.
Sustainable commitment
One-time events matter, but long-term faithfulness matters more. We build rhythms that outlast any single leader.
Welcoming across traditions
Protestant, Catholic, Orthodox, non-denominational — students from many Christian backgrounds serve together here.

Faith statement
What we believe.
We are a Christ-centered movement. We confess Jesus of Nazareth — crucified, risen, and reigning — as the Son of God and the Lord of every life he calls his own. We hold to the historic Christian faith as expressed in the Apostles' and Nicene Creeds.
We affirm the Scriptures as the inspired and trustworthy word of God, sufficient to guide a life lived in love of God and neighbor.
We welcome Christians from every tradition — Protestant, Catholic, Orthodox, non-denominational — who share this confession and want to put it into practice with their hands.
We believe service is worship: a tangible offering of time, presence, and love that quietly proclaims the good news of Jesus Christ.
