Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 2026

Hands of Jesus is a platform that connects Christian volunteers with organizations offering local service opportunities. This policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.

Admin reminder: These policies are starter drafts written in plain language. Before a large public launch, have them reviewed by a qualified adult advisor or attorney to ensure they fit your jurisdiction, partners, and insurance requirements.

Who we are

Hands of Jesus ("we," "us") operates a website and volunteer directory that helps students, churches, and community members find and sign up for service opportunities offered by host organizations. We are a platform — we do not run or supervise every event listed on the site.

Information we collect

  • Account information — name, email, and password when you create an account or chapter profile.
  • Volunteer signup information — the details you submit to register for an opportunity, including name, contact info, age range, and, for minors, parent or guardian contact.
  • Organization / chapter submissions — information you provide when submitting an opportunity, applying to start a chapter, or requesting a service hub.
  • Messages you send us — contact form submissions and email correspondence.
  • Basic technical information — such as pages viewed, device type, and general location, used to keep the site working and secure.

How we use your information

  • To let host organizations know who has signed up for their opportunity.
  • To operate the volunteer directory, chapter dashboards, and admin moderation tools.
  • To respond to messages, partner inquiries, and support requests.
  • To improve reliability, prevent abuse, and moderate listings.

What we do NOT do

  • We do not sell your personal information.
  • We do not publicly display private signup or application details. Volunteer signups are visible only to the host organization for that event and to Hands of Jesus admins.
  • We do not share minors' contact info publicly.

Minors

Many of our volunteers are students. Where required by school, church, or host organization policy, minors should obtain parent or guardian permission before signing up. Signup forms may ask for a parent or guardian's contact information so the host organization can confirm consent.

Who sees your data

  • Host organizations see the signup information for their own events.
  • Chapter leaders may see aggregated participation for their own chapter.
  • Hands of Jesus admins may access records to moderate the site and respond to reports.
  • Service providers that help us run the site (for example, hosting and database providers) process data on our behalf under confidentiality obligations.

Your choices

  • You can update your profile from your account dashboard.
  • You can request deletion of your account and personal data at any time — see the Data and Account Deletion page.
  • You can unsubscribe from non-essential email at any time.

Security

We use reasonable technical safeguards, including encrypted connections and access controls, to protect your information. No online service can guarantee perfect security, so please use a strong password and let us know if you spot anything suspicious.

Changes

We may update this policy as the platform grows. Material changes will be reflected in the "last updated" date at the top of this page.
